My name is Lies Vink and I am helping homeless children and underprivileged women in Kathmandu in Nepal. For a long time now I have been working for SHANGRILA HOME, a home for homeless children where I set up educational projects such as a computer centre and a sewing class.

In March 2008 I established a new children’s home: MARINKA CHILDREN HOME, because of the pressing need for additional places for street children.

Currently there are 24 children living here and further expansion is possible. A new sewing/production centre has been set up for the women. Through the centre the women become able to support themselves and their children and make the step towards leading independent lives.
